Our designers are obsessed with using all-natural dyes, a coloring process that requires hands-on artisanal care and small-batch production. This color was created using madder extracts, a dyestuff that comes from the root of Rubia tinctorum, an herbaceous plant native to Asia. Back in the days when cloth was one of the most important trading commodities, the difficult-to-achieve and much-coveted madder reds were often literally worth their weight in gold. This tee is made with organic fair-trade cotton supplied by Green Tee Inc., a company whose cotton is grown using environmentally sound farming techniques that actually improve the quality of the soil. Due to the character of natural dye, the color may run or rub off when exposed to light fabrics and upholstery and, with wash and wear, will fade to its own unique hue.
