Over a year ago, I bought this sweater in several different colors and they have been my go-to wardrobe staple. I have probably worn my old navy cardigan over 100 times and it held up very well. I started a new job and thought I'd refresh my cardigan collection and replace my beloved navy cardigan. Ugh! After two wears and two rounds through the dry cleaner, it's starting to pill horribly in the pocket area. It looks so unprofessional that I can't even wear it to work. The old sweater actually looks newer than the new one. I love these cardigans but the quality is not the same--very disappointing.

I own several of these sweaters, some 3-5 years old, and they are in pristine condition, no pilling or signs of wear. I've bought a few of these this year and after one wear they look years old, with pilling and a very worn, rubbed look, like I rubbed Velcro against the sweater. I bought a black one and the first time I wore it the pocket ripped part way off. I put my hands in the pocket for a minute and it happened. I love these sweaters but the quality, as with other j.crew clothing, has gone way down hill. Please bring back the quality we've all come to love about j.crew. Bring back the original high quality merino wool you used to make these sweaters with!

I have a black J. Crew merino cardigan that is 7 years old, but it has never pilled-- the fabric is as smooth as it was when it was brand-new! Successive versions of this cardigan do not hold up. My oatmeal colored one has pilled so much, after only a few months, that I question whether I can continue to wear it to work! Very disappointing and not up to the quality I expect from J. Crew.

Thank you J.Crew for continuing to make a timeless sweater than can be worn in almost all seasons. I have several of these and find they fit true to my usual size small. It's a nice quality merino wool that doesn't seem to pill easily and keeps its shape. Like the Tippi, J.Crew issues this sweater in a variety of colors over the seasons so I can wear deeper, darker, jewel tones in the fall and winter, then switch to brighter, lighter colors in the spring and summer. It's a great alternative to a blazer, and a welcome layer in my overly-air conditioned office in the summer.

Love these sweaters. The merino wool provides a little extra warmth when needed, but it is still thin enough that it is very versatile weather-wise, and comfortable for layering. I noticed several people are saying it runs large, but I am wondering if they washed before reviewing, as mine shrank a bit after washing (even in cold water, and after stretching before laying out to dry). I originally got one in xs that became a little more snug than I prefer after washing (though I still wear it); the second one I got in s, and it shrank to the equivalent of the pre-washing xs.
