A Holiday Q&A
with Nikki and Lola
How are you getting together with family and friends this holiday season? Lola: My husband and I recently purchased a home in Brooklyn and we want to fill it with memories. Great food, lots of music, cinnamon- and pine-scented candles and a big tree with all the trimmings.
Nikki: I’m really looking forward to gathering in person at Lola’s place in BedStuy. I’m generally on beverage duty and choose the wines for the festivities—a mix of red, sparkling and orange.
How are you getting creative and giving back this holiday season?Lola: The science of baking has always been intimidating to me—one-quarter cup of this, two tablespoons of that—but I’m determined to learn how to bake this season. Warm, gooey chocolate chip cookies are first on my list.
Nikki: I like to donate to the Food Bank for New York City whenever I can. Food insecurity is an issue all year round, not just during the holidays. Every $1 helps provide 10 meals.
How do you like to decorate and create a holiday vibe at home?Lola: My husband and I are on Christmas tree duty and love searching for the perfect pine. Our son loves hanging ornaments and watering the tree.
Nikki: I like to get the dance party started with a mix of top-20 songs and a Black Christmas Songs playlist I found on Spotify.
Any fun family holiday traditions you can share?Nikki: Not a holiday season goes by without a viewing of my favorite Christmas and New Year’s movie, Trading Places. At this point, it’s canon in our family.
Lola: I can’t wait to take my son to see the lighting of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. I know he’ll love the excitement and the hot chocolate.
What are you looking forward to
in 2022?
Nikki: More episodes of our fashion podcast Well Suited will be dropping in 2022!
Lola: We love working together and speaking to the world’s most interesting people about their personal style and fondest fashion memories. Fashion plays such an integral part in many of our lives and it’s important to document these stories.

One way to get creative: DIY wrapping paper! A cork makes the perfect polka dot,
and an ice tray doubles as a cool windowpane print.

“My personal style is classic with a bit of edge, which around the holiday season usually translates to Fair Isle sweaters, jeans, tuxedos and low-heeled shoes—with sparkles and gold in the mix.” —Nikki
