Product Details

The Ludlow shoe is our version of a bench-made dress shoe, and it's constructed using many of the same methods as the world's best shoemakers. This one has an Italian calf upper, a lining from Wisconsin and full-grain outsoles from a family-run factory in Pennsylvania. We built it with a Goodyear welt, too, which means you can resole them again and again—so they'll last a lifetime.

  • Italian leather upper, lining and sole.
  • Goodyear welt construction.
  • Full leather stacked heel.
  • Import.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality and Very Comfortable I really wanted a pair of wingtips because of their classic good looks, and something high quality, to replace a pair of dress shoes I've had for about 10 years but had my feet aching by the end of the day. The color is a beautiful rich brown. I debated between cigar brown and english tan and opted for cigar brown for versatility's sake - they look equally great with a suit, khakis, or a pair of dark jeans. I usually wear a 10 and the 9.5 US size fit me perfectly. They were immediately comfortable out of the box. I've stood for many hours and walked a lot in them over the past month and they are by far the most comfortable dress shoes I've ever owned. The toe box is wider than other shoes I tried, which I like from aesthetic and comfort standpoints. These are really high quality shoes. J.Crew did a bang up job with these and I envision them lasting many years. By far one of the best purchases I've made recently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ludlow wing tips It's hard to find a good shoe. Some fit but are just plain ugly while others look good but fail in every other way. The style is simple and elegant with proportionate soles, not too thick or thin. The uppers break in quickly and coordinate with the soles to provide a completely walkable all day shoe. Bravo.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leather Letdown (Black Mahogany) I held these shoes on my wishlist for a long time before pulling the trigger on such a pricey shoe. I was disappointed as soon as I opened the box. The leather did not have the matte-finished, almost buttery-soft look as portrayed on the website. Instead it was rigid, with an over-shiny military gloss to it. I wore them anyway, because of other positive reviews, in hopes that they would become what I envisioned once broken in. Sadly the leather has not "weathered" as desired and I will probably wear them infrequently. I love J.Crew quality, but this one was a miss for me. I'm reluctant to purchase the English Tan wing tip when my current brogues are ready for replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I loved the look of these shoes, but after only 4-5 wearings the leather creased in ways that make them look like plastic. I own a half dozen other dress shoes, some nearly 10 years old, and none of them have had this problem. I was unable to return or exchange them at the store because I'd worn them a few times, but it was the sort of defect you can only discover after wearing them. Given their price, I am severely disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice style, poor quality I really like the wing tip style, unfortunately the quality of this particular shoe is quite bad. After just wearing them twice, the leather began to crack, and I started to hear a "squish" sound every time I took a step, like air escaping from the sole of the shoe. After further inspection I noticed a crack in the sole, where the heal and sole meet. With the price of this shoe, I would expect a lot more.
