Rated 3 out of 5 by QuarkXP Very nice jacket, but sizing is way too large!
I ordered this in both a medium and a large. I tried on the medium first and immediately knew that I didn't even need to try the large.
While I really love the jacket, it runs quite large in the body for a medium. The sleeves are great, with a slight taper.
At first, I thought that'd I only really need to take about an inch or so off the back when I brought it to the woman who does my alterations. I always ask for her opinion first, and she said, "Yes, it's too big, makes you look boxy." By the time she was done pinning the back where she would take out fabric, she had almost three inches pinned! While I don't anticipate having to wear this with a suit jacket, she did leave a little extra in there to account for that.
I really like the styling of the jacket, so I kept it. I like how they didn't put any of the large buttons with straps on the cuffs, and kept it minimal.
Seems like J.Crew is STILL trying work out their sizing issues, though!

It is true to size but the sleeves (or arm hole) is tight. It is always a struggle to put this on without or without sports jacket underneath. I have 3 other J Crew jackets/coats and none have that issue.

No quarrels with the quality or style; but, as noted by several others, this jacket runs very large. I couldn't justify the cost of tailoring this jacket to something workable. I would suggest going a size down when ordering.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Saltman It's all about the collar
This updated version of the Macintosh is noteworthy for its shorter length and stand up collar. A raincoat for various occasions that maintains an urbane tone with its upturned collar. Looks good with a suit and runs large. Pricey for what it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by JamesB Runs baggy in waist and buttons need help
I ordered online so did not get to try on in store. I can overlap the front fabric to have almost enough for a double-breasted garment, albeit a snugish one. That to say, there is a lot of extra fabric around the middle which I may get a tailor to snug in a bit.
Also, the buttons are all barely holding on with the thread which I will need to get re-done. Its a good piece that I didn't want to return as its spring and otherwise a great coat for the weather, and returns are generally easy for JCrew but still a pain to do.
