Rated 5 out of 5 by Carl J. Crew (finally) understands the polo.
I'm a longtime J. Crew customer, yet until now I've never actually liked J. Crew polos. This version, though, the slim classic, gets the polo fit just right. Whereas J. Crew polos used to be blousy and boxy, these really fit well. They're snug enough to lay close to my body, but not so tight that I look like I'm wearing a size too small.
Other improvements: The sleeves are comfortably snug around the bicep, not loose or baggy. Also, the collars now stay put, no longer rolling up at the corners. Lastly, the polo's pique fabric seems improved. In particular, it seems less thick and heavy. Not too thin, but thin enough to be comfortable and feel you're wearing a quality, comfortable, polo that's actually made for warm weather.
So kudos, J. Crew. As a 30+ year customer, thank you for getting the polo right. I hope this 'slim classic pique' is a permanent addition to the J. Crew line. It's one of your best.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Matthew Slim?
This is listed as a slim fit, but that would mean either J Crew misunderstands "slim" or I am the thinnest person on the planet (I'm not). This shirt fits just barely slimmer than a regular cut should. The only exception is in the arms, which I think would qualify as slim. Around the torso, however, the shirt is not as slim as I would expect. I have J Crew slim button downs that are more what I would classify as slim.
For perspective, I am 5'10", 170 lbs with an athletic build -- no gut.
Overall, a decent polo that isn't quite as slim and I would expect, but not baggy enough to return.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Alan Too long!
4 or 5 years ago the slim-fit x-small classic polo fit me perfectly, but somehow the polo has gotten so much longer, and when I went to buy new polos online I was terribly disappointed. My rule is that if I put the polo on and when fully let down it covers my bum then it is too long, and unfortunately this was the case with this polo. The right fit for this polo would be 3 inches past my waist so that I can lift it easily to expose my belt. This polo, and the other polos and tshirts that I bought in my order were all way too long and baggy.

Bought both a black and white version of the same Slim Pique Polo online (local stores don't carry this style in-store) and was disappointed because, despite being the same size (M), the two shirts fit quite differently. Especially in length... with one of them being a lot longer (requiring it be tucked in).
Love the quality but the fit difference seems odd to me for an exact sku in a different colour.

I have been an avid JCrew customer and an account holder. If JCrew decides to check the legitimacy of such, I would gladly provide them my with my account number. I own several T-shirts and Polo shirts from JCrew and have tremendously enjoyed wearing them. However, they have seen better days as I have had them since 2005 and I have pictures to prove it. However, much has changed with regards to sizing. Although, the cut is slimmer, they seem longer, and I mean really long that I have had to double check if I was purchasing the tall version. I agree with most of reviews here that the Polo shirts and the same applies to the T-shirts are longer in length than usual. Please, powers of be from JCrew, help up with this issue.
