The fabric is somewhat scratchy and thin and there's no lining. I can see my body through the navy one. I specifically avoided the white because I could actually see through it on the model. Like all J. Crew tank tops on me, this is unwearable even with a bra because of the low neckline. This item looks nicer than other J. Crew items, but certainly not luxe or anything special. It's going back. J. Crew isn't worth the investment for me anymore with this decline in quality.

The good: this shirt was not too low for work, which was something I feared could be the case based on the website pictures (and is something I've had major issues with in virtually all of JCrew's suiting/wear-to-work tops over the past year or so). The bad: I'm not sure how a completely see-through, unlined piece of silk is worth this asking price. I refuse to pay extra to get a top lined that should come that way in the first place. The number of white shirts, silk or not, that have been sold this year (see, for example, the reviews for almost every white button-up currently for sale) that require either lining or a cami is completely unacceptable. JCrew is quickly becoming not worth the money, and this top is no exception.

I purchased this top in the ivory color. This is a very simple piece, but it is well constructed and the silk is lovely.
It fit me well in my usual J Crew size for tops. I wish the front neck were just a little bit higher, but it is a very pretty little top.

I bought this in black, in my regular top size (12), which is also my size for button-down Perfect Shirts and Carrie camis. It fits true to size. The silk is most certainly thicker than that of the Carrie cami or the Blythe blouse. It reminds me of the silk tricotine from the Sophia dress from 5+ years ago. It is unlined but it is not see-through in black. (Personally, I would not want a lining in this anyway, which would almost certainly be poly or some other perspiration-inducing synthetic.) I love the fit - just right through the bust and slightly flowing through the waist. It is not too low cut for me; I'm 6 ft. tall though. The shirt-tail hem makes it a bit different, which I also like. I did not want to pay full price for this, but I did, and I am certain I will get my money's worth. I find the price on par with mid-range designers that can be purchased at luxury department stores. I'd consider buying this in other colors.

I bought this in the black and ivory colors and love them both! The white version is a bit see through, but doable (especially if you're layering with a blazer). The black is a nice thick silk that you can't see through. The fit is "true to size" as the style is a bit oversized. Love the scoop nick and the thicker straps so you can wear a normal bra with it. Great purchase!
