I love my Tippi's. Every season I buy a couple on sale (let's be honest, it's all overpriced for the quality you get). If you haven't bought a Tippi in a while or if you're considering your first, there are a few things to know.
They are THIN! Definitely a layering piece. I tend to think that even the darker colors need a camisole underneath. They layer perfectly over a button down or under a blazer. Nice for any season! They are also a little itchy. I have super sensitive skin, so I hesitate to wear them without a full layer underneath.
If you know what you're buying, the Tippi's are perfect. I've never had an issue with holes or unraveling with these sweaters, but any other issue I've had in the past (with the cashmere, in particular), J.Crew has been fabulous about exchanging, no questions asked.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Anon Different than my beloved Tippi!
I have been buying Tippis for more years than I care to admit and love them, they are a true staple in my wardrobe. I was excited to see the new longer sleeves and the beautiful new colors, but when my sweater arrived today and I tried it on, I was beyond disappointed. The knit is thinner than that of previous years, which I can live with, but the arms are uncomfortably tight. I measured them against a Tippi from last year and they are about 2 inches narrower! I already size up in the Tippi to allow for layering so I am not considering purchasing another size up for the arms to be comfortable since that would look too big. I hope mine was a defective one, and it is getting returned as soon as I can get to the store. Please J Crew bring the Tippi of years prior, the one we know and love, back!

Rated 4 out of 5 by skinnypickle Runs tight in the arms
The cut of the sweater on this years model is smaller than the previous year's. I have "toothpick" arms and the sleeves were tight. Overall the sweater ran narrower as well, it is not slouchy as appeared on the model, its close-fitting.

This is not the Tippi. J.Crew messed with the cut of sweater so the arms are now longer and the sweater is boxier overall. Tippi is a staple in many of our wardrobes, J.Crew. Why you would mess with perfection to create just another boxy, overpriced sweater is beyond me but whoever is making these recent styling decisions needs to be FIRED. I kept returning to J.Crew for staples like the Tippi even though the quality of the materials went down but I think this was the last straw.
