The fabric was not what I thought it would be. I thought it would be thinner but it's very thick material which is not necessarily a bad thing. I would recommend trying this on in store. The fabric did not sit right on my body (I have an hourglass figure). The top felt like it squished me but then the stomach and bottom flared out and were too loose. It's a cute dress, but the fabric was just too stiff and constraining in some areas, and too loose in others for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Hilary So disappointing...
After I got the latest catalog, I was counting down the days until this dress arrived. I tried it on in the store, and I am SO glad that I did. I was expecting a true shift dress, but instead of a shift dress, like the previous J Crew shifts that had a few darts (I am thinking of the scalloped ones from a few years ago) this one has a very weird cut and fit. There is a sweetheart type neckline that isn't very clear in the picture, but it makes the front look like you have a paper hat on your chest when you bend over. Additionally, the dress flares out a little at the bottom, which makes it look like you are wearing a paper bag. An attractive leopard print paper bag, but a paper bag.

Such a fun piece to add to my fall outfits. Cannot wait to wear this through the holiday season with turtleneck underneath like in the magazine. Fits true to size. I bought a size 2 and I do normally wear size 2 in Jcrew tops and dresses. The fabric is different but I think it makes it unique. There is a bit of pipping around the neck which also adds a nice little touch.

I just can't decide if I'm keeping it or not. The seam down the middle adds so much weight to the front of the dress that it puckers out. I totally love the look with the Tippi turtle neck but I'm just unsure if it's going to make me look too heavy as I'm only 5"2. The print is adorable but the fabric is almost 80s prom dress taffeta. Just not what I had hoped for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Quadzilla Edie Sedgwick / Mod Dress
This dress isn't a shift; it's an A-line or "mod" dress ala Edie Sedgwick. I ordered a size larger (6) based on how it fit the model and the sizing was way off. I then ordered a size smaller than usual (2 - I'm usually a 4) and it fit perfectly. It comes on a hanger, and if you don't iron it, the dress will poof out in the front (if your stomach is a problem area, then it will work for you). For petite women or thigh-heavy women, a good iron will shape it. I'm 5'4, 123 pounds and athletic if that helps.
