Product Details

Our 770 jeans are more narrow than our 1040 slim-straight but not as skinny as the 484 (our slimmest fit). This pair is made from authentic selvedge cotton denim woven on 100-year-old narrow looms at the Kaihara mill, one of Japan's oldest and most renowned denim producers. How can you tell it's true selvedge? Turn up the cuffs and you'll see the signature stitching. For those not in the know, raw denim (also called "rigid" or "dry" denim) feels stiffer at first and then fades and distresses according to the individual wearer; in other words, it's as authentic as it gets. Go behind the design of our denim washes.

770 raw selvedge jean

770 raw selvedge jean is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bar None...Best Denim Ever! Bar None...Best Denim Ever! These are hands down the best denim I have ever purchased/worn. These jeans fit perfect, as the 770 fit is ideal for my athletic build. Tapered, but not too slim. Great quality. Dark raw color is perfect. I would recommend sizing down 1 inch in the waist. Also, research online about breaking-in/taking care of raw denim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Jeans I'll start off by saying this. I was a little bit nervous when I heard that J Crew was revamping their selvedge denim. Having worn my last pair almost every day for about 1 year and 3 months, all I wanted was a pair of the exact same. For me personally those were some of the best fitting and highest quality jeans that I have owned. Never have I once bought the same pair of jeans in a row. Usually I will switch to another brand. Currently, I'm gonna stick with J Crew. The quality and fit of these jeans for the price is unsurpassed. The new revamp of the 770 seems to have gotten better (given that they are much cheaper as well) They switched around some miner details like sewing back the selvedge coin pocket, switching out the leather patch, and adding new buttons. In my opinion these changes make for a better jean. I just got mine in the mail tonight and cannot wait to put them on to head into work tomorrow. Fantastic job J Crew.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good summer weight denim For me these are the perfect cut. Fitted. But not too skinny. They have room for athletic thighs with a nice taper. My only complaint is that smaller waist sizes don't offer longer inseams.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not too raw, should be longer Without naming names the 770 fit is similar to another brand with numbers in its name but for the same 32" inseam it doesn't allow you to cuff meaning the other brand at a 32" inseam is almost 2" longer to cuff. So if you want to cliff your selvedge jeans, best to order your inseam 2" longer. As another review said, these are raw but not super raw as they are a bit softer than other raw pairs. They are similar in the thigh to a straight fit but tapers nicely below knee. Best to order a few sizes and see what you think, waist seems to run a bit large.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Raw, but not too raw. I'm not the biggest raw denim enthusiast but I do like a nice pair. I've owned two other brands of raw denim jeans in the past. I was told to steer clear of J crew's from some real raw denim enthusiasts, but I love the 770 fit so much I had to give them a shot. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 210 lbs I wear 34 / 34 (I cuff) and they fit nicely, I have pretty athletic thighs / calves. The material is definitely not the RAWEST denim, but it definitely has that raw denim feel to it. If you're one of those super raw denim enthusiasts then these may not be the jeans for you. But if your looking for a nice pair of jeans that have that raw feel, but not as stiff as a board then these are a good buy. The craftsmanship is good, the pockets are deep and not tight, the fly has enough buttons and the stitching is nice. I've had them for about 3 months now and haven't had any issues, I'd recommend these to anybody but my only complaint is that they are a little pricey, which knocked it to 4/5 stars.
