October 24, 2025I’ve never tried an Alden boot before but have some Red Wing Heritage and Wolverine 1000 mile in my collection and decided it was time to treat myself. I did some research on line and determine to try a 9.5 (though I measure a 10) with the Barrie last on these boots and the size was spot on for me. Yes there is more room in the toe then I’d go for in sneakers but the arch, width, heal and toe bend were all perfect. I purchased these with the intention of wearing casually outside of the office and for the not so dressed up days in the office and they truly work great with jeans or khakis. The boot is truly gorgeous and I would argue the cordovan is extremely comfortable and has not given me any issue with break in. They may look stiff but it’s a very soft and pliable leather. Thus far I’ve also addressed any spots or scuffs by just brushing vigorously with a horse hair brush - and by vigorous I mean a good solid minute and generally anything rubs out. These boots are a heck of a price point and while value is subjective I have no regrets about spending on these. They’re incredible in every way - looks, feel, comfort.

August 23, 2024This one is on the Barrie last. Most people order half size down but if you have narrow feet with medium-low instep, you should be okay ordering a full size down.

10 Years Going Strong
July 1, 2024I bought these boots from the Jcrew website exactly 10 years ago last month and let me tell you: these things are built like a tank. Since then I’ve only had to resole a few times. Other than that they look even more beautiful than when I bought them. They are also as comfortable as ever. And decade long patina on that gorgeous color 8 that has formed has given it a special a one of a kind look that keeps its elegance while giving a more rugged look to it. I know I’ll have these Aldens for the next 20 years if I want it. So is it worth the price? For me the answer is an unequivocal yes. *I got a half size down btw.
