Cinched-waist cropped cardigan sweater

Cute sweater that can look both professional & casual! The material is soft & not scratchy. Doesn't really shrink in the dryer. Love to pair with tank top

I bought this three sizes larger or so I thought hoping for a big baggy fit. NOPE, this is the weirdest cropped cardigan with the weirdest sleeves ever they are like balloon sleeves with a ribbed cuff that is not cinched at all leaving the weirdest look to the sleeve ever which adds so much width to the shoulder/arms. It is so cropped and boxy looking all while not being large enough to match the largeness of the arms. I don’t know, I was hoping for this nice white dressier cardigan and I put it on an immediately laughed at it and my first thought was “now THIS is the worst thing I have ever bought from jcrew”. The body of the cardigan is small to small even though I bought much larger than I usually do. I don’t know how this is cute on others, the reviews seemed to show everyone liked it. I am top chest, belly, arms heavy and I do not like this at all. I am finding lately there is a reason to the items making it to final sale clearance…

Unfortunately, I have to disagree with the other reviews with the fit of this cardigan. I purchased this on final sale because of the raving reviews and the fact that it looked nice on the model. I'm 5'5", 120lbs, slender build, broad shoulders. The photos don't show it well because the model is slouching, but the sleeves balloon out at the elbow and taper at the wrists. If my shoulders were less broad, maybe it would fit better. This cardigan just makes my shoulders appear twice as wide. If the sleeves tapered completely it might also look nicer. The quality is extremely nice for the price I got it for, but it just wasn't right for me.

Because of the description and reviews, I bought a size up because I am a 36DD (this was final sale) - should have stayed with my usual size. Size up looks frumpy, oversized. Maybe I can shrink it. I wouldn’t say this is shaped with a cinched waist at all. I can see with the size Large the shape bowing out in the middle. It’s more like a jacket than a cardigan. Fabric is high quality. Sorry I sized up.

Unlike the other reviews, this sweater was just ok. The issue was fit. I'm normally an XS on regular and a small on fitted sweaters (5'5", 125lbs, 34b). I ordered the small and length of the sweater was fine (similar to the model) and the fabric was as described. The arms were wider at the wrists than expected and the cuffs fell about an inch longer than the model, which I thought was an awkward length on me. What I wasn't a huge fan of was the "darts" at the side of the sweater to make it more fitted at the waist. It's hard to see it on the model as she's slightly slouching. Instead of a nice gradual taper on the sides, it was more like a cinch on both sides.

Darling structured cardi with wider-but-not-quite-kimono style sleeves that makes it shine. Wish I’d bought two for the inevitable stains that occur with white clothing. Very cute, soft and all the things.
