A Swiss-made Pen
What: The 849 ballpoint pen from Caran d’Ache®.
The story: The Swiss do precision well: watches, knives and, perhaps less famously, pens. Since 1915, Caran d’Ache, the country’s only pen and pencil maker, has focused on perfecting writing instruments. Its iconic 849 ballpoint pen, introduced in 1969, is the enduring classic by which the company has made its, er, mark. The slight metal body delivers up to 600 pages’ worth of scribbling, thanks to its replaceable Goliath ink cartridge.
