Vans® for J.Crew
What: From the originators of SoCal skate style, a rad take on the chukka.
The story: When the Van Doren Rubber Company (named after brothers and cofounders James and Paul Van Doren) opened its doors in 1966, 12 people stopped by to pick up a pair of the company’s made-to-order deck shoes. But just a few years later, pro skate teams like the Bones Brigade were wearing them because of their simple construction and laid-back look. “I was a skater and wore them because they were the iconic skateboard shoe,” says Jamie, our Discoverer. “They looked just as cool worn casually with shorts, chinos or jeans as they did out hitting the vert.”
