You asked, we listened: We kept hearing that our cashmere was pilling too easily (because we wanted it supersoft, it was knit more loosely), so we decided to make a change... This new style has been knit more tightly, so it should pill less. The tradeoff is that it might not feel as soft at first, but just give it time. P.S. Hand-washing your cashmere is the way to go, just trust us on that.

Italian cashmere classic V-neck sweater

Italian cashmere classic V-neck sweater is rated 2.8 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cashmere has changed I have four cashmere sweaters from the '08 season - thick, sumptuous, soft. Like any fine wool fiber, these sweaters pill with wear. But this year's sweaters are very different from my older sweaters. They're still soft. They're also much thinner. A lot of people complain about this. Is JCrew letting down its customers on purpose? Probably not. The global demand for cashmere means changes in quality; JCrew does not necessarily stay with the same supplier for decades; they can't charge what they charged eight years ago. If you want a really high quality sweater, then be prepared to spend $500 for European-made. If you can live with a thinner cashmere sweater that comes in range of highly-saturated colors and costs roughly $100 on sale, then shop JCrew.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Consistent fit, inconsistent material This year's cashmere is thicker, but not soft!! It felt like wool.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I ordered it in Neon Petal (the pink color in the pictures). When it arrived I was so happy. However, a hole appeared in the right sleeve on the very first day I was wearing it!!! So disappointed. But I liked the color so I took it to a store, returned it, and order another one in that beautiful pink. Guess what... the same thing happened again! Now I am thinking maybe this is a systematic structural problem for this batch of sweaters. Don't buy it unless you like holes.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Inconsistent sizing and Quality I ordered 3 colors hoping this sweater had gone back to it's quality of a couple of years ago---which is "yes and no." Out of the 3 that arrived, they were all a different quality (2 were fairly thick and soft, and one was very thin and scratchy and felt like wool, not cashmere). And one of the three was almost a full 3 inches shorter than the other two!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice quality (just not as soft) I love JCrew cashmere and have a few sweaters collected over the years. This year's version does seem denser (as advertised).. but it doesn't seem as soft as previous years :( ... Fit and style is good and I love the extra ribbing at the sleeves.
