- A more traditional full cut, roomier in the body and sleeves.
Though oxford-cloth shirts have been around for more than a hundred years—early on they were uniforms for English polo players—it wasn't until the 1950s that the button-down version became an icon of East Coast preppy style, largely thanks to the Ivy League students who made it part of their daily uniform. Prized for its comfort and versatility, the oxford-cloth button-down (the OCBD to some) has become a menswear cornerstone, a go-to for preppies, street style stars and just about everyone in between.
We've made our famous oxford shirts even better, updating our design and crafting them with supersoft American Pima cotton. Grown exclusively in the American Southwest, American Pima cotton has longer fibers than other varieties of cotton, which makes it stronger, softer and less likely to pill. As an added bonus, our oxfords are now woven with mechanical stretch: the 100% cotton fabric is woven loosely, then washed, giving it natural elasticity without having any stretch fibers. With a longer, unlined collar, our new oxford resemble the iconic staple of '60s Ivy League cool.
