Would be a great piece if longer/not that wide or adjustable and if fabric is softer (the fabric is surprisingly hard). Not sure if my daughter will not put it on shelf due to the hard fabric and wide/short style. I liked the hood since majority of jackets of this type do not have it while my kids use hoods a lot and prefer them at a not yet hat time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by NYC28 Cute jacket, but....
When I first saw this jacket I thought it would be great for my 7yr old. I liked that it was light and had a hood in case of those rainy days. I was excited for my daughter to wear it in the spring. When I took it out of the bag, the jacket was pretty but also it was very stiff. I'm not sure if putting it through the wash will soften it but I was disappointed. My daughter thought it was nice but the second she tried to wear it, she stopped. She asked me why it was so hard. Definitely a super cute jacket but material needs to change.

This is our second jacket. The first was green and fit nicely on my 7/8 year old. It's a light weather jacket but when adding a layered sweater it provides extra warmth. My daughter/I receive lots of compliments when she wears it and I find it to be a nice trendy piece; especially the gold-tone buttons/snaps.

This jacket was originally going to be for me since I couldn't get my petite size in the women's version, but ended up being for my daughter since I got something else. We ordered the 14, which is her usual J Crew size, and it was huge. Exchanged it for the 12 and had to wait months for it. It finally came in today, and we're disappointed it fits more like a boys jacket. It's slightly wide all over, but the sleeves are wide enough to accommodate two jackets underneath. There is only one button on the sleeve so we cannot tighten them. Sizing down would mean the jacket would be too short and tight. Too much width seems to be a common issue for us with Crewcuts tops/outerwear/sweaters. Maybe my kids are just too lanky, but given other reviews I've read on the site, I don't seem to be the only one. I wish J Crew would either change their sizing or come out with slim and plus sizes for girls, especially in the 10+ sizes, so that more kids can be included.
