My daughter is 11 this summer and in shopping for swimsuits this year we discovered that she had aged/grown-out of the suits for young girls, but definitely wasn't old enough or mature enough to wear suits for teenagers and adults. There is VERY little to choose from for this in between stage. This was also the first summer that we both agreed an appropriate two-piece swimsuit (not a tankini) would be an option we could try. This suit is a very good balance between too juvenile and too mature. The bottoms are cut with good backside coverage and are not unreasonably high on the leg opening (the rise is an inch or so below the belly button). The top covers well in the front with ruching in the middle; I would prefer a slightly larger strap across the back so it looks a bit less like a bra but it is fine. The floral print gives it a younger feel and is a nice touch for a child's suit, with the neon highlights as a perfect, fun detail to keep the floral from looking to baby-ish.

Though my daughters (I have 3) own many bathing suits, their new J Crew suits are their favorites. Extremely comfortable, no riding, pinching or bunching and they can run around in them all day without taking them off. After buying the first one I went back and ended up with 8 new ones!!!
Next season I will come straight to J Crew
