"Maine Event" sweatshirt

Cute and comfy -- great for a chilly summer evening - but does run small

I got this piece for a few reasons: 1. It is a really lovely periwinkle color, hard to find in a sweatshirt. 2. I was conceived in the state of Maine ; it is a beautiful land dear to my ❤️ hence a Maine Event. 3. It was a wonderful, affordable-very-on-sale price!! 4. It is All cotton, which is my preference. 5. Even though some reviewers of this item were saying that it seemed to be cut smaller than other jcrew sweatshirts , I knew, from past experience , that would still fit my small frame. Which it does!

I love this sweatshirt! It’s very soft and cute but it runs very small. I’m 95 lbs, 32B, usually wear size 00P or XXSP. I sized up to size Small and it’s perfect after washing.

This sweatshirt is absolutely lovely; the color is fantastic and the embroidery on the front is beautiful. The sweatshirt is the high quality that we all love and expect from J. Crew, and I'm not unhappy at all with my purchase. That said, I did read the reviews before my purchase, and ordered my usual size, knowing it may be tight--which it is, especially across the chest. I'm not someone who likes to wear big, baggy sweatshirts, and I feel this was designed to be comfy, but snug. I am okay with the sizing, however, because I am mid-weight loss journey, so in about 25 pounds, it will probably fit me fine. (For reference, I am currently 5'6" tall, 180 pounds, 36D.) Size up one or two if you can, but bigger sizes seem to be very hard to come by with this one...when I ordered my Large, there were less than 5 left, with no XLs or XXLs available.

I have had many Jcrew sweatshirts and am a size S, but always order one size larger to leave more room for layering and possible shrinking after wash. This sweatshirt is very soft and fit great. Love the lobster embroidery which is very dense and cute. The sleeves and body lengths are both perfect and the fabric is great and in medium weight I guess. That is thicker than the Nantucket sweatshirt.

I'm a sucker for a New England tribute and a lobster theme of my home state sold me (paired with the purple-y blue) This is a great layering piece for those summer months, though run a bit snug, thus losing a star from me.
