You asked, we listened: We kept hearing that our cashmere was pilling too easily (because we wanted it supersoft, it was knit more loosely), so we decided to make a change... This new style has been knit more tightly, so it should pill less. The tradeoff is that it might not feel as soft at first, but just give it time. P.S. Hand-washing your cashmere is the way to go, just trust us on that.

  • Italian cashmere in a 12-gauge knit.
  • Rib trim at cuffs.
  • Hand wash.
  • We recommend folding (never hanging) and storing in tissue paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sms2009 I love this sweater. I purchased it in Snow.... Xl. It's a good quality and fits perfectly. The color is just what I expected. Can dress it up for holidays and down for Spring, Fall. Thank you again J Crew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love the sweater I find this sweater to be good quality, excellent to have as an outwear on a warmer day , and to wear inside over a cotton t-shirt. What is most important for me as far as wool/cashmere is concerned.... it can't peel.!!!!!!!!!! I was sick and tired of buying all the available tools like combs , brushes etc and being constantly occupied with unpeeling my sweaters. This one doesn't , I have worn them many times and food maybe 2..3 little balls all together. Love it.It is a winner to me , and I got 2 so far.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very disappointed I purchased this cardigan in-store because I liked the style. It does not even feel remotely close to cashmere. It feels more like regular wool. I was however, hoping that it would be something I would wear for some time to come as the price might indicate. Alas, after wearing several times it is already pilling severely. It looks like I have owned this cardigan for years not, two months. It is a disappointment and an embarrassment to wear.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from good color, poor quality I have been ordering J Crew cashmere for years (love the long sleeve tees). This doesn't even feel like cashmere. It's feels like a fair quality wool, a little scratchy, but wearable. I kept it for the color and style, but I am deeply disappointed in the quality of fabric. Even though I bought it for 30% off, it feels like I paid too much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice quality layering piece It is not the JCrew "featherweight" cashmere, so I did expect a thicker sweater. It is not too thick, in my opinion, or scratchy as a 1st reviewer thought. Purrfect for outdoor fall weather in the south, even over a transitional light fabric. As we have colder days, I can still layer with the ultra light "featherweight" cashmere tops (I have so many!), and I can put this open cardigan in a larger purse; such as days out with errands, lunch or early dinner. I'm 5'5" almost, but with a short torso. This cardigan does basically cover hips, which is nice if your 1st layer on top is on the thin side. I do not have wide hips, but I could see a lot of women my height or bit shorter really liking the slight swing around the hip area. Also, I tried a ribbon belt last night : it gave a more tailored, nighttime and polished look with my pencil skirt and medium heels (3" heels).
