Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless and elegant! These culottes are a classic- think Elsa Schiaperelli's "divided skirt" from the '30s. The wool is a very nice quality, but be warned that they are unlined, so those with sensitive skin may wish to steer clear (or wear tights). I ordered the blue, and the colour is even richer in person- more like a teal. It works beautifully with burgundy, pumpkin, black and camel. I am 6' tall and 135 lbs and do agree that a shorter or smaller-framed person might be overwhelmed by this piece. Yes, the culottes balloon out when one sits, but I do not personally have a problem with this- the trick is to keep the rest of one's silhouette streamlined. I wear between a 4 and a 6 in JCrew (more often a 6). A 4 in these culottes would have been too small for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly stylish Visiting New York I found these culottes in the Madison avenue store. At first I wasn't sure but tried them on anyway. Wow. Just loved them. Really stylish with boots. They look like a skirt hard to tell they are culottes until you start to walk. Very drapey and comfortable. Loved them so much I wore them to the theatre that night!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hello MC Hammer.... These pants looked so wonderful in the latest lookbook, I couldn't wait for them to hit the stores. When they arrived, out of the package, I was impressed with the fabric and the (seemingly) cute design. Once on, however, I was overwhelmed by the quantity of fabric in these pants! I immediately felt like I was in an old MC Hammer video. The crotch hit mid-way down to my knee, and the amount of fabric in the pelvic area poufed out, making the hip area look ginormous and the legs were so wide, the fabric seemed to puddle around my calves. The effect was worse when seated - the fabric practically billowed over my abdomen, looking positively ridiculous. Because they fit well in the waist and seat, a smaller size will not solve the problems with these pants. Sadly, they are going back.
