Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning Cherry Red Plaid I love this!! Yes it is like a windbreaker. The fit is great fairly loose on top and more fitted towards the knees. I bought it in 2 different sizes to try for fit, a size 8 and a 10. I am 5'9 140 and kept the size 8. When I went to my local JCrew to return the 10, two women in line asked to buy it. I cannot believe it has not sold out. The color and style are classic JCrew. I loved the pic so much I ignored the reviews and glad I did.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most Stylish Windbreaker! I bought this jacket at the full price when the first spotted it in the store. Consider the material being 100% nylon, this would be way too pricey that I normally would not spend money for. However, I decided to keep it for a couple of reasons : 1. This jacket is very well made inside out. The plaid pattern and color is very classic, there is no sheen for this piece which makes it a high-end look. 2. It's durable and light weight. Even if you fold it many times it still gives you the casual-structural look once you unfold it so it's good for travel. 3. This would be the most stylish windbreaker you can find in the market. Most of the windbreakers are sporty and nothing you can find that gives you the semi-formal look like this jacket. I've used it for many business trips. Washed many times and still looks like new. I think J Crew's design team is challenging themselves in many ways every day and this is another prove for many new styles and materials to come!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this coat! I have been eyeing this coat for a few months now and I loved it at first sight. I read the reviews but wanted it anyway. So, then the price was right and it was in my size. To me, this is like a collector's item! I will cherish this forever. It has a taffeta feel, perfect for a warm weather rainy day. I can't wait for Spring to wear it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ATTRACTIVE BUT COULD BE BETTER I purchased this and kept it because I thought it was so different and attractive--very cheerful. I do wish that it had been lined, though. To be honest, I think it will have limited use where I live because I think of this plaid as a fall/winter one, although the weight says spring. It really depends on where you live. I will add that it wasn't too tight, so a sweater underneath will be fine. For reference, I am 5'4" 110 lbs. 34B, and a size 2 fit well. I often have trouble with J.Crew's coats and jackets being too tight in the shoulders and arms even though I am slender and not muscular, but there was no problem with this coat. The worst thing I can say about it is that it is overpriced for what it is. Still, I like it, so I own it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classic, lovely, overpriced occasion jacket After seeing this in pics from Fashion Week, I really wanted to see it in person, so I went ahead and ordered. So it is really beautiful in person, but there are caveats. It is not really a coat, it is a jacket, and it's 100% nylon, with a sort of swishy taffeta feel (and sound) to it. It is definitely not going to keep you warm. It is not lined. That said, if it's crazy warm outside like it was last year up through the holidays, this would actually be perfect for popping into events, church, dinner out, etc. with a dress or a sweater. You're not wearing this item out in the polar vortex. Ok, so with that established, and understanding it's crazily overpriced for nylon, it's still a lovely piece -- the classic plaid, a true red and navy, the nicely fitted (not tight or weirdly oversized) shape. I'd say it runs TTS. Would be stunning with the new houndstooth/jeweled heels. If they took a hundred off the starting price, it would likely sell out.
