The Story

Though named after Tuxedo Park in New York City, where it made its American debut at an 1886 ball, the tuxedo originally comes from Great Britain. Invented during the 1860s as a middle ground between the less formal lounge suit and the very formal coat and tails, it was known then as a dinner jacket and matching trousers. By the 20th century, the tuxedo name stuck, as did its wide acceptance as proper eveningwear&emdash;and arguably the sharpest thing a man can wear.

Product Details

This Ludlow tuxedo jacket (a staple of our collection since 2008) is crafted in a luxuriously finished wool from Tollegno 1900 (est. 1862), one of the oldest mills in Italy. The peak lapels are made of rich satin, a stylish hallmark of timeless formalwear.
