Slim Broken-in pocket T-shirt

Sizing is very inconsistant. I ordered 5 shirts, 3 came in one kind of packaging, each of the other two in other packaging. One was too small before washing, one shrank too much after washing, 3 were fine after washing. Not sure what is going on, but not worth the 60% useful rate.

I see some reviews unhappy with color fade and poor quality. I suppose they're not into the character of the particular fade, or maybe washing often with an extra high heat dry with a load of towels or whatever and a harsh detergent. Personally, this has been my A+ favorite t-shirt for decades now. There were a few years when it was discontinued - I think around 2010-2012 or so - and I was unable to find any other - with or without pocket - that was as perfect in fit, fade character, and so on. I still have 1 from my first round way back in 2007 or '08 or so, and sure - i think the bottom rib stitching came out sometime around 2015 or so, and way faded, but its awesome. I didn't take as good of care with that one as later ones, and others along regularly stolen/kept by girlfriends along the way. These t-shirts age very well, in my opinion, with a lesser faded character range that lasts well into their 2nd and 3rd year when not baked excessively in an extra high heat drier with heavy towels every week. I did that for my first batch, but took a bit more care to preserve next rounds and that extended the life considerably. That was important 'cause i wasn't sure they'd always be available. Every couple years I buy a bundle.

Love the t-shirt but color faded immediately and inconsistent all over the shirt

I have been buying these for ~6 years. They still look great, but the quality has noticeably deteriorated. For my more recent purchases, holes have developed within a month or so (wearing and washing them once every week or two), particularly around the pocket. Previously I could wear and washing them regularly for a year or two without significant wear. Disappointing as a very frequent J Crew customer and repeat buyer of this shirt.

Newer shirts have lower quality than my older ones. The newer ones I bought have tears by the pocket. The older ones don't. But both eventually have small holes in the material which is not as big of a problem. I can live with those. But the tears by my pocket are about to show my left nipple. And no, it's not because I'm putting things in the pocket. The most I put in there is my credit card.
