You asked, we listened: We kept hearing that our cashmere was pilling too easily (because we wanted it supersoft, it was knit more loosely), so we decided to make a change... This new style has been knit more tightly, so it should pill less. The tradeoff is that it might not feel as soft at first, but just give it time. P.S. Hand-washing your cashmere is the way to go, just trust us on that.

Italian cashmere cardigan sweater

Italian cashmere cardigan sweater is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from FLUFFS AFTER WASHING So many veteran jCrew customers complained about the cashmere this is more tightly woven than we usually see and therefore not as fluffy. Then there is the pilling. That said, I found that after one wash it cold water it becomes much fluffier and softer. The great part is no shrinking at all! I have many many cashmere sweaters purchased over the years and this may be the best for wear and durability. I've washed the hoodie at least five times this season and it is still a very deep color and fluffy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality slipping The cashmere cardigan is not the same quality as in the past. My sleeve seam started splitting at the wrist. The grosgrain ribbon came detached at the neck. So disappointed. I have a huge collection of J crew cashmere cardigans. I guess maybe I have all I am going to have.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cashmere Cardigan I have many J Crew cashmere sweaters, but in the past two seasons the quality has really gone down. The cardigan pills but not in a small pill way...the pilling is shaped in small soft mounds all across the front of the sweater and no matter how many times I try and "de-pill" the garment I cannot get the look to go back to the way it was when I first wore it. I love the color and so want to love the sweater, but it is so disappointing to not have it wear well. I hope J Crew can go back to making a quality garment, that fits true to size, like they had for so many years. So sad.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as good quality as last year I have a cashmere cardigan from last year that I practically live in--it's so soft and warm. I purchased another one this year, but was sorely disappointed. The cashmere is scratchy and feels more like wool. The sweater is also noticeably thinner and less warm that previous iterations. I kept the sweater because I needed it for an event, but I regret having to keep it. The quality is so poor, especially for the price. I want cashmere sweaters that feel like cashmere!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Arrived with the seam falling apart! I have a couple of these cardigans from about 4 years ago and loved (still do) them, but this is not the same quality at all. It's totally gone downhill. First of all, my sweater arrived with the seam on the arm cuff falling apart. When I put it on to see the sizing, it didn't fit the same. The arms are much shorter (way too short) and tighter than they used to be. The cashmere does not feel and look anything like what it was either. It used to be thick with a tighter weave and really soft. Now it's a bit thinner, looser weave and really scratchy. Not impressed.
