Sperry® for J.Crew 1-eye canoe shoes

Rated 3 out of 5 by Buyer beware: squeaky soles! I'm at wit's end with these shoes. They look great, but there must be a manufacturing issue and/or quality control problem with this particular model. The first pair I ordered fit somewhat larger than my other pair of Sperry's, so I exchanged them for a half size smaller. The second pair's right shoe had an unbearably squeaky sole--more of a shrill scream than a squeak--so I exchanged them for another pair. That pair arrived this morning and, alas, the soles are squeaky! Sigh. July 23, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great looking shoes...that squeak :( I've got a few pairs of the Sperry boat shoes from J.Crew that I love but these have a different construction which results in a loud squeak when you step. It sounds like you're stepping on a dog toy. I had this problem with one pair (left shoe) - after a cobbler couldn't fix it I exchanged it for a new pair and the left shoe of the new pair also squeaked! If you look under the heel insert you'll see that the leather is sewn together; my other Sperry boat shoes are a single piece of leather. I suspect this is why I keep having this problem but I couldn't fix it, so I returned the second pair. Bummer, they were really good looking shoes. September 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful and Comfortable I just slipped these on again and felt obliged to review them since I love them so much and so many others have had problems with them. Mine are clean and beautiful, with consistently dark, uniform leather. They are extremely comfortable - a bit more comfortable than the Sperry boat shoes I wear in warmer months. And they neither squeak nor cut me, as other reviewers have experienced. I couldn't be happier with them! November 10, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Beautiful but Cursed This is prob the nicest pair of sperry's ive ever seen. but unfortunately i've received scratched shoes on the top side of the leather where your toes are, i've received a pair with glue or sticky residue all over the laces, i've received a pair that wasn't colored consistently and almost comically lighter on the bottom where the leather meets the sole (almost like tie die). and then when i finally received a pair that was pristine, IT SQUEAKED. these shoes are meant to be looked at and gazed upon, but not to actually be worn is my final conclusion June 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by thank you, thank you, thank you :) I would like to thank, j crew and speery top sider for the replacement of my shoes! the new pair are perfect, no sqeek coming from the heel of the shoe (first time this ever happened) and I love them as much as the dozens of top siders I've bought over the past 40 plus years and will continue to buy and wear top siders for another 40 plus years, I hope! :) thank you all for the prompt help and replacement, i'm wearing them as I write this review :) best shoe, ever!!! I started wearing top siders at the age of 13 and now i'm 53, that speaks volumes to one co. and their wonderful deck shoe!!! as well as j crew, keep up the great work, job well done! :) enjoy your summer...
