Ordered two pairs of these pants in different colors, and the fit noticeably different. The main issues is that the lengths are different. I have to bring one pair to the tailor to be taken up. I have another pair that I have ordered previously and the lengths between the right and left leg are different. JCREW quality control has gone down hill.

I've been wearing this exact fit and style of Jcrew pants for what seems like at least 4-5 years and over that time they've basically become a staple for me due to their consistency in fit, finish and style... I've got pairs in half a dozen colors. They're trim without being so trim that they are skinny, comfortable, and still look great with wear and tear and/or wrinkles. My only complaint, and this is minor, is that the inside button at the waist almost always gets to the point of falling off within a dozen or so wears. No biggie though, five minutes of time and some elementary level sewing skills solve the problem.

An American staple that defies time and space. Works just as perfectly paired with canvas sneakers or loafers, madras shirt or bow tie and an OCBD. Own over a half dozen pair in just as many colors and have never suffered disappointment.

I'd been looking for a pair of good chinos and I finally decided to try J. Crew's Urban Slim fit since I've had such good luck with their other products. The fit is great; they have a nice slim taper without being at all constrictive. I'm a very active guy so I have fairly muscular legs. The "Broken In" part is not at all over done either. I'm not a fan of the whole distressed thing, but it's subtle and tasteful with these chinos. After a few washes they're super soft and comfortable. They also have the nice little details like the front coin pocket, the slash pockets and the second button on the waist. Overall, great pants for the price. I highly recommend these.

I was hoping for a pair of chinos with a fit similar to D*ckers *lpha (slim), but available with a longer inseam. So I tried a pair of the 484 chinos and found the leg opening in my size to be too small to fit over a pair of boots. Previously, did not experience same in a pair of 484 jeans in a smaller waist size, which is weird. The Urban Slim chinos do work with boots, but are significantly baggier through the leg. Not totally unwearable, but slight ly disappointing.
Props to J.Crew for offering 34" inseams on pants with *listed* waists smaller than 32," unlike any other mass market retailer that I know of.
