I was looking for something cool, lightweight & casual and this fit the bill. Great fit, great "wear" and the detachable hood is a nice bonus. The quality is very high and the lined sleeves are a nice touch.
Just a heads up that there are no side pockets like you'd find on a regular coat, but it is a military themed jacket.
Another great product from "J" and I would recommend.

I wear this jacket whenever I travel. Loads of pockets make it easy to keep stuff close but with enough style to stop you from looking like you just went to the Army Surplus store. It's definitely feels boxier than my other J.Crew jackets, but that's kind of the point. I secretly wish for it to get colder out so I can start wearing this again.

I found the Garrison jacket to be very well made with lots of nice details like elbow patches that added a touch of rugged style. I was also impressed by the heft of the material. It's a nice jacket, but it does have a few omissions to consider. The lack of water resistance and snap buttons for convenience on the exterior and interior pockets prevents it from being regarded as perfect in my opinion.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Stan Buttons Come Off Fast
Much like many of JCrew's garments that have buttons, they fall off fast. This jacket in particular, I had for three weeks. It was only cold enough for me to have worn it five - six times. One button that fastens the hood fell off somewhere (due to poor manufacturing) and got lost. And the second button is hanging by a thread (on the front). I don't think I should spend close to two-hundred dollars on something that is of such poor quality. After all this jacket is new and should have functioning buttons that last for way more than three weeks.

I love this jacket! I live in Los Angeles and it is a great piece for our Fall days that transition into "chilly" nights!
