Lambswool sweater
Product Details

This lambswool sweater is knit using heavy-gauge yarns. What does that mean? Thicker-than-normal yarns equal a superwarm, textured look.

Lambswool sweater

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Less than expected The sweater has a nice fit for someone like me, who has an athletic build at 5'9" and 185 lbs. A size large offers enough room in the chest, shoulders, and arms while not being baggy or boxy, whereas the actual slim fit was too tight for someone like me. The colors are also nice. Where the sweater falls short is in the quality. While the sweater is described as a heavy gauge knit, it is paper thin for a lambswool sweater, and noticeably thinner than JCrew lambswool sweaters offered in the past, yet the price keeps climbing. The wool is also very stiff and scratchy. My JCrew sweaters from just 3 or 4 years ago are significantly better made, with thicker and softer yarn. This sweater was disappointing, and I returned mine for a competitor's offering. December 20, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Works for me, but isn't as described. "Superwarm," "thicker-than-normal," "textured," "heavy-gauge"—uh, no. This sweater is far thinner than I expected based on the description, and based on the thickness of an older J. Crew lambswool sweater I own. It isn't "textured," unless that means that it has a slightly heathered look. As a result, this sweater looks dressier than I expected; I wear it over button-downs, or on its own under a blazer, to work. (For reference, I'm a slim, 5'7", small-chested woman with longish arms and broad shoulders, and I often prefer men's sweaters—their sleeves are long enough and shoulders broad enough, and they have a better drape. This one fits well in an XS.) January 18, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice, classic sweater--but could be softer Every year I buy a few of these lambswool sweaters--great fit, classic style, good for layering. This year I purchased three, and found them to be of a good quality, but not as soft/fine as the same sweater from previous years. November 21, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Smaller and scratchier than years past I have bought my husband 1 or 2 of these sweaters every year for the past several years (in navy, teal, and brown). I ordered "Heather Evergreen" in size Small, his usual size, this year, and thought there must have been a mistake when I pulled it out of the package, because it looks like something I could wear. I compared it to a navy lambswool sweater from a couple years ago, and the sleeves on the new size Small are at least 1 inch shorter. The sweater is also slightly narrower and shorter. And to top if off, the wool feel scratchier than it used to. I realize wool feels softer after wear, but this definitely is rougher than it used to be. I will re-order in the size medium because my husband is a creature of habit, but keep in mind the differences in size and quality if you are a long-time fan of this style. December 17, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Agree with previous reviews I still own a Jcrew sweater I bought 5 years ago, was an excellent purchase that I've worn hundreds of times since. Sadly, as other reviews have stated, I notice that the newer versions of the sweater use much thinner, scratchier wool. I've returned mine. Very disappointed that the quality of the product has dropped so seriously. September 24, 2016
