This jacket is amazingly well made and is probably one of my favorite jackets in my closet. It is made from Ventile material which is waterproof, and not only this, it is relatively light weight. I especially love the white accents to the jacket. In my opinion I would say that this jacket is superior to a jacket made of Gore-Tex because not only is it a breathable waterproof jacket, but it is also thicker and doesn't make an obnoxious noise when you walk around.
The fit is somewhat slimmer, and if that isn't good enough, it also was waist drawstring cords. One downside of the drawstring cords is that don't have anything to hold them in place, so you have to tie them.
I would say the only major downside to this jacket is the price, but overall I would say the price is worth it. I would definitely recommend this jacket to anyone looking for a fashionable rain jacket that will probably last for a very long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by HDOG Hard to Beat Ventile for Style and Function
If you're looking for a traditional, practical 1970's backpacker styled Ventile jacket, this one may fit the bill.. I field tested this light jacket and it amazingly shed the rain, literally like water off a duck's back. It has all the features you would want in a walking or traveling jacket. It has large horizontal opening cargo patch pockets, actually designed to hold things and not fall out.You simply can't compare the laminate type "breathable" waterproof material comfort-wise against the superior breathability and feel of Ventile cotton. This is a perfect jacket for spring, or layered over a sweater for colder weather. Id have put a sturdier brass zipper on the front instead of that bright white nylon zipper, which makes the jacket look asymmetrical and out of place on a premium quality jacket. I would also not used beige buttons, but used more traditional horn colored brown or grey ones. It seems very well sewn, and functionally designed. We'll see how it stands up over time.

After just over two months of use the fabric has been fraying and losing its ability to block out moisture. Because of the shoddy material, after an outing in the rain, my clothes inside have been soaked through. I bought this jacket because I liked the style, but had I known that this jacket would start falling apart in two months, I would not have purchased. This is a $100 jacket quality marked up to $500. Save your half grand and buy something else.

Rated 2 out of 5 by labellamama So Stylish, Unfortunately not 100% waterproof
I got this jacket for my boyfriend for Christmas. Its very stylish and I thought it would be perfect for the Nola rainy season. However after one wear in a very light rain shower, the jacket appears to not be water/weather proof. A light rain soaked right through the jacket. I paid a really great sale price for the jacket, but I'm so glad I did not pay the full price. Jacket does not live up to its namesake of being waterproof.
