Rated 3 out of 5 by Sean Comparison to Nylon Sussex Quilted Jacket
I purchased this along with the J.Crew Nylon Sussex Jacket to compare the two, as they are similar in style. The higher quality of the Barbour Chelsea is immediately apparent with smart details that the Sussex lacks, like a contrast-color lining, deluxe zippers, and pockets with flaps that snap closed. The smaller pattern in the quilting gives it a more sophisticated look.
Unfortunately, the Barbour Chelsea falls short due to the boxy fit. The jacket is also a few inches longer than the Sussex in the body and sleeves, giving it an unfashionable silhouette. It lacks the double vent on the back of the Sussex which keep the jacket from bunching when you sit down or put your hands in your pockets. There are side straps than can be adjusted to bring the jacket in at the waist, but these cause the material to bunch up rather badly.
Overall I would say it’s a nicer jacket than the Nylon Sussex but if you normally buy slim-fit clothing you may not like the way it fits. Too bad!

Perfect for chilly mornings or going out to grab a coffee. Fit is not too fashion forward and has the Barbour quality. Wearing it now!

This jacket is probably the best quilted jacket. The price is very reasonable for for such quality. The material is superb, it's not shiny and it looks extremely elegant. However, it's way too big. Size small of most brands fit me very well. I order an XS for this one, and it turns out to be way too big. I swim in the jacket. Also, the sleeves are way to large. It gives me the feeling that I'm wearing pajama. I feel bad having to return it.
