Alden® 405 Indy boots

Alden® 405 Indy boots is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from These boots are worth it. As has been mentioned elsewhere on the internet, these are simply the best general purpose boots that money can buy. The glove leather lining is other worldly. Zero break-in was required for them to be profoundly comfortable, and they've only become better as I've worn them over the last few months. They do well in rain/snow, and hold up well when they're knocked around during the day compared to other shoes and boots I own. The styling is utterly classic. I've never received so many compliments about a pair of boots in my life. If you can swing the price tag, you will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless Classic! This is my first pair of Alden boots and it fits just right with 0.5 size suggestion from J.Crew for the Trubalance fit. The color is very sharp and it is a perfect combination for formal and casual wear. The leather and craftsmanship is outstanding as well. They wear very well and there's really no break in period. I've worn them with think and thick socks and they are great with both. I keep them with shoe trees to keep their shape and suck up moisture. It really helps with the wear - Cleaning is very easy because the leather is superb quality. Wonderful boots, well worth the price and investment. You may not have to buy another pair in the future but you are going to buy (as I did) other great boots from Alden from J.Crew.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would gladly buy a second pair! This is my 6th pair of Alden Indy boots (and my first from J. Crew) and these are my thoughts: Color: Although labeled as 405, and feel as sturdy as the 405’s, they seem to be of a color in between 403 and 405; they are not as dark as the 403, but not as reddish as the 405, so although somewhat subtle, you are indeed getting a different color, if you have other Alden’s to compare with. Built: I had some issues with previous Alden’s, specifically eyelets not properly finished that would catch on the laces as you slide them through, thus fraying the cotton laces within weeks; and a tongue slightly tilted to one side from its base attachment (stitched at an angle, from the factory). I dealt with those issues in different ways, and it seems that Alden’s quality control has not always been top notch. However, this J. Crew pair came very top notch! Well-built indeed. First thing I checked out of the box were the eyelets, and they were all nicely finished and smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the Wait I've been wanting to purchase a pair of Indy boots from some time now. I've bought several pairs of Alden shoes from the J Crew collection of classic collaborations. My new boots fit comfortably for daylong wear, right from the box. I'm very happy with the quality and workmanship that I've come to rely on from America's premier shoe and boot maker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally pulled the trigger I was hemming and hawing on this for over a year, even ordering last year then cancelled almost immediately. This time, as per the title of this review, I went through with it and I am so glad I did. These boots are great looking, fit great and are very comfortable. Regarding all of what I heard previously about going down a half size from your normal size, I did this and no go! I went with my normal size 12 and fits like a glove. So far I have worn to work, out for a walk and will take on a business trip this week. I love that it looks great and simple, very classic but not gaudy or flashy. It feels so quality I just wish I did this a year ago. Alden makes a fantastic boot and I would suggest to anyone who wants a nice urban, work casual boot. As the saying goes " you get what you pay for" and in this the price is high but so is the level of workmanship.
