Rated 3 out of 5 by Are all guys really this thin? Good quality product as ever from JCrew, but was expecting a similar fit to the broken in chino shorts I bought (4 pairs) These trousers (pants) are cut tight through the thighs and seat making the waist size irrelevant. They are supposed to be a 'classic fit' - but seem to be following the trend in men's fashion to make ever thinner cuts of shirts and trousers. These may suit slim boys/men but are a poor look for the more traditionally built guy. The US Marines can't shop at JCrew I'm guessing. March 10, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Classic Fit Is No Longer Classic Fit Something happened between when I last bought a pair of "Classic Fit" chinos a few years ago and now. I think what happened might be called the hipster-fashion invasion, which now has decimated any vestige of a "classic" or "traditional" fit or look at J. Crew. What you have done to the classic fit is horrible, and about as classic as a pair of trendy yoga pants. The taper below the knee takes the "classic fit" far from the traditional and rather Ivy League-ish silhouette that made chinos like these good looking. Until you bring back the old classic fit dimensions as well as the now entirely absent "regular" fit chinos, I will buy my chinos elsewhere. I am very disappointed. May 1, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Reasonable alternative to the standard 1040 Chino I really wanted to regular essential Chino in Stone, but it was not available. This is a reasonable alternative it is cut slightly trimmer, seems to have a heavier weight fabric and the inseam runs a little shorter than the standard classic. Overall a well made Chino but I still prefer the non-broken in version. Note to J. Crew - some of your die hard customers were slim and super slim 20 years ago however now we enjoy a more casual and comfortable cut, it would be nice if we could continue to buy our basics from the store we probably purchased our first pair of khakis from - please bring back the stone color in the classic 1040 fit. Thank You. March 10, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect casual work trousers Only sold online for some reason, these pants are great for work. They are not too slimline but still cut slimmer than they would have been a few years ago. On the same principle they also sit lower on the hips than trousers used to - something I find rather annoying. But that's how things are these days, I'm just looking forward to waists rising again! Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent straight fit I wore urban slim fit chinos for several years before realizing classic/straight fit pants suit my body better. I tried both these and the Essential Chino. These have a slightly larger leg opening and thus a straighter fit - the Essentials were too similar to the urban slim so I will return those in favor of these. These are on the long side, but I prefer getting my pants hemmed. I already ordered the other two available colors, please offer more colors! July 21, 2015
