Something always seems to be off about the fit of these slim shirts. The quality is good and it fits well around the torso, but the sleeves are way too wide. I'm a slender but fit guy and this shirt just looks silly with the sleeves flapping about when everything else looks good. Did J.Crew not match the fit of the sleeves to the fit everywhere else?

Well, this is interesting. I bought this piece during the Fall of 2013, and since then it's been my favorite item from J Crew. Everything was right about it-- fit, color, fabric, EVERYTHING!
Unfortunately, over excessive use, it's begun to tear, so I opted to by another one. I just received it in the mail and eager to try it on, I notice something different. A huge difference. The length of the shirt is about 2 inches longer. 2 inches is A LOT! It completely changes the dynamics of the shirt. The buttons are spaced out to proportion the shirt, so now the midsection puffs out. Why? Why would you change a perfectly good shirt? Needless to say, I have to go to a tailor now.
The picture used for display is from their old design. So, that's quite a misrepresentation. Also, I'm not entirely too sure but I think the fabric is stiffer. That, I'm not too sure, considering I've had it for 2 years. But, I'm on to you J. Crew... I'm on to you.

I'm a big linen fan and this shirt is every bit as comfortable, cool, and says "summer fun" as a sharp linen shirt.
Does not wrinkle like linen, but has that comfortable, casual feel that linen has.

I'd wear it everyday if I could. Stylish & comfortable. Strangers stop me on the street to compliment it. My new favourite shirt.

Rated 2 out of 5 by MGDC Another miss from J Crew
I was almost tempted to give this item one star - but the fabric appears to be of good quality. Yet J. Crew's trend toward sloppy fits and sizing can't be ignored. Their slim fit shirts used to be excellent; but in the past 2-3 years - not so much.
This shirt is a perfect example - the sizing does not conform to the size chart provided by J. Crew - it runs at least a half-size large. Moreover, it simply is not a true slim fit. It might be slim-fitting on a guy who is 15-20 lbs overweight, but not on a fit guy. There is almost no taper from chest to waist, meaning that the midsection is baggy. Worst of all are the sleeves - they're cut for a guy with arms like a lumberjack. Seriously, the size small is cut for a man with about 16" biceps. Do you know anyone with a 36" chest and 16" biceps? Me neither - but this shirt has so much extra fabric in the upper arms that it completely ruins the look.
Come on, J. Crew - get back to making slim fit shirts that are actually slim.
