Couple of things to note
1. The colour is very much an off-white/cream. If you're looking for pure white jeans, these aren't for you.
2. They run about a size smaller than indicated. I'm a J Crew 33/32 in chino and corduroys, but my 33/32 are quite snug.
You can wear these with a nice dark blue shirt, tucked in, brown belt, and some nice brown derby shoes, blazer over the top if it's not too hot outside. This doesn't give a sinful "shirt tucked into jeans" look, it's quite nice. You can also dress them down with some boat/driving shoes, t-shirt, and a fabric belt. A pretty versatile piece.
The actual quality of the denim is really nice, and they have a Summer-y beach look to them with a nice texture and small flecks through the fabric, almost like sand. The selvedge seam is red, which is also present on the coin pocket, which gives a nice accent of colour.

When I told my wife I need light colored or white jeans she dissuaded me citing that short stocky men look fat in them.
Having failed in several attempts with white jeans before I agreed.
But these aren't exactly white. I have other pants of similar shade that works for me, so I tried these on.
Normally I am not a big fan of the skinny fit on pants that seem to be popular among bloggers...but the 484's were much better fit than the 770's (for me atleast.# It is slim, but not overwhelmingly slim.
My wife loves them. She says they look better #in terms of fit and shape# than some more EXPENSIVE denim I have, and she loves the color.
They look great with sneakers and navy sweaters or pique shirts.
White shirts...not so much.
I plan on wearing them into the fall until my tan holds up.
Mind you I did size down from my normal J Crew pants size though. #Bowery pants and Stanton shorts I wear 33 but with these a 32 fit MUCH better.)

I grew up in a jean wearing family--my dad is a carpenter so I always wore jeans with him to help him work or even around the house. But it was always blue jeans. I didn't used to be someone who would wear light colored jeans, but after seeing them again and again in the J.Crew catalog, I decided to just buy these wheat jeans and try them out. At first I would only wear them sparingly--when I wanted to be more dressed up than my blue jeans but didn't want to wear chinos, but I slowly started wearing them more and more. Now they are probably my favorite jeans to wear. I find them really comfortable and true to size. The denim is really soft too, something I don't get from a lot of other companies. I also own white jeans but I haven't worn them since I've gotten this pair in wheat. I wear them with almost anything and always look great. Highly recommended.

Selected these jeans as they were not something that I find everywhere else. When the jeans came, the fit was awkward in the crotch and the fabric too heavy for this time of year. The color was too non descriptor---not actually white, not cream.

I am avid JCrew fan and shop on line and in your stores frequently. I have started to notice a regular inconsistency in your fits. I recently went from your urban slim to your 484. And when I say went, I mean I replace ALL of my pants with 484.
This wheat colored denim was extremely large. I ordered another wash in your selvage 484 that arrived a week later and it's fit was spot on. I really wish I had tried on these wheat colored ones before washing but did not.
