Rated 3 out of 5 by Steve Stylish, but runs very large
I feel odd reviewing this low as the style and quality are great. Only issue is the size is HUGE. I'm 6'1" and 170 lbs and got a Medium SLIM and it still ran at least 5 or 6 inches too large around the chest/waist and a good 2 inches too large on the arms. I feel like I would have had to order an XS Slim to have it fit properly. In any case, the return in store was hassle free. Don't know if this is a common theme with J Crew outerwear as this was my first piece, but definitely thrown off by how large it ran for a slim fit.

Purchased this during a sale and it's pretty impressive. Quality is very nice and will definitely keep you warm during the colder months. My only qualm is that it does run very large. I recommend going down AT LEAST one full size from your normal JCrew shirt size. I'm normally a slim medium and got a slim small and it fits good, but I'm left wondering if a slim x-small would fit perfectly.

I love the style of this coat and J.Crew's slim sizing in general; however, this coat's "slim" is not necessarily proportionate to J.Crew's slim dress shirts (think: Ludlow) and sweaters. Rather, it's roomy, in a peacoat sort of way. If that's what you're looking for, you're in luck.

Really enjoying this coat. Nice weight, and it looks (and feels) great. I ordered a small, which fits me well, but it's a bit larger than other small coats I've ordered, so if you're between two sizes (like I am), go for the smaller. The handwarmer pockets are a little high to be practical, but the front flap pockets are perfect for my hands on a chilly morning walk from the parking lot. I definitely would recommend.

I just received one of these coats as well and the fit is great. I wear a medium.
To those folks receiving coats with pockets sewn shut. Most coats/jackets have the pockets sewn shut to keep it from losing shape before being purchased. The pockets are there. Just work the thread apart with your fingers to open the pockets or carefully cut them open with a seam ripper or scissors.
