The Story

Up until WWII, military flight jackets were made from thick leather and shearling to keep pilots warm during high-altitude flights. But by 1950, aircraft advances eliminated the need for such bulk, and the MA-1—aka the modern bomber—was born. Durable and still quite warm, the thinner nylon accommodated pilots in tighter cockpits, and smaller knit collars made room for parachute harnesses. Today the bomber calls to mind everyone from British punks to grunge rockers to hip-hop stars.

Our take on the timeless bomber jacket is made from nylon-cotton (rather than the traditional leather) for a more casual and easy-to-layer version of the classic style.
