Product Details

Our designers are obsessed with using all-natural dyes, a coloring process that requires hands-on artisanal care and small-batch production. This color was created using logwood, a flowering tree native to Central America (the trees were originally transported from logging camps to shipping ports by floating them downriver, hence the name). Capable of producing deep purple hues, logwood was used to dye the garments of kings and clergy, and in the 1600s, a single load was worth more than an entire year's cargo of other goods. This tee is made with organic fair-trade cotton supplied by Green Tee Inc., a company whose cotton is grown using environmentally sound farming techniques that actually improve the quality of the soil. Due to the character of natural dye, the color may run or rub off when exposed to light fabrics and, with wash and wear, will fade to its own unique hue.
