Our designers are obsessed with using all-natural dyes, a coloring process that requires hands-on artisanal care and small-batch production. This color was created using iron and chestnuts. Metals, and iron in particular, have been used to color fabrics and textiles since antiquity—the first greys and blacks were almost exclusively achieved by burying material in iron-rich mud for several weeks (evidence of this technique can be traced as far back as 3000 BC). This tee is made with organic fair-trade cotton supplied by Green Tee Inc., a company whose cotton is grown using environmentally sound farming techniques that actually improve the quality of the soil. Due to the character of natural dye, the color may run or rub off when exposed to light fabrics and, with wash and wear, will fade to its own unique hue.
