Keeper chambray shirt

I purchased this shirt several years ago after having my eye on the chambray style for some time. I waited to buy this until I had a gift card and absolutely fell in love until...I reached to grab something off a shelf in my closet and heard a loud ripping sound. The tear was so large I could fit my hand through it. I did not have the shirt long when this happened so it was not from normal wear and tear. This fabric has no give whatsoever and I am a small person so the 00 was not a snug fit. I did not think to return the shirt because I thought it was my fault it ripped so I just absorbed the loss. I have since purchased 3 chambray shirts from other brands all of which are better quality fabric as they are all still in tact. Sadly, I still prefer the wash of my original Jcrew chambray but don't want to take the chance of ripping another one as they are an investment.

Of the three styles of J Crew chambray shirts I own, the cut and look of this one is my favorite, which is why I am on shirt # 3. It's soft, flattering and goes with everything. Unfortunately, as some other reviewers have mentioned, all three have now torn on the back of one arm where the seam meets the shoulder blade. The shirt is not tight, so I am not sure why this keeps happening. J Crew replaced my first one, though I have not brought the other two back. I love this shirt but don't think I'll buy another.

I really wanted to like this shirt. The fit is weird. It is small in the front, bust area, yet bunchy and loose in the back area with lots of excess fabric. The shirt sleeves are too long and not to the correct proportion of the rest of the shirt. Too bad. I called Customer Service but they were surprisingly unable to offer any suggestions or help. Unusual for JCrew!

I have what I thought was the same shirt in a larger size (bought two years ago) and wanted to buy a smaller, more fitted version. However, the cotton in this one feels and looks rougher and the colour is more uneven. Hopefully it will age and wash nicely.

This shirt is a versatile wardrobe staple. Soft and a perfect weight. I took off one star because of the buttons. They are very thin and it won't surprise me if they crack and break. But other than that -- I love it!!
