Great jacket, lousy zipper
January 4, 2024This chore cost is great around the yard and looks good around town as well. My only reservation is the terrible zipper. It never catches on the first try and is frustrating to use. Otherwise a great jacket, but I would hope JCrew sources a zipper from a better manufacturer next time.

Faulty zipper, Jacket only lasted a year
November 2, 2023Very disappointed in this jacket. I bought it a year ago and had constant issues with the zipper. Sometimes it would not zip up and would need constant re-tries. Recently the zipper broke and the jacket is ruined. Glad I only paid the sale price for this.

Its okay (not)
January 4, 2023Got this and at first, i really liked how the jacket looked and was really excited to use them. They have multiple pockets, sturdy double zippers and a rich olive green color. But after trying them at home and some further inspection, i am very disappointed. The looks just didnt outweigh its lack of craftsmanship and quality. It just wasnt worth the price tag. It had loose threads, stitching errors. Dont get fooled by how functional the jacket looks, it wasnt functional at all. The inner lining and the corduroy detailing was very thin and felt cheap and the “hand warmer” pockets were…not warm. Very disappointing. The lightweight wording might just be a way to hide how cheap-looking it was made. I mean, it felt like it was off of just another fast fashion brand. All that and priced at 248.. wouldnt even buy it at 50% off. What happened J crew?

Updated classic - Modern Field (Rain)Coat
January 4, 2023This jacket is a more attractive / field-coat-inspired version of an insulated water repellent windbreaker. If you are tired of overdone athletic wear, and looking for a durable, classic, yet updated coat for rain, or wind, this is a great item to have in your wardrobe. The chore coat cut and collar feels both very hip and urban yet also timeless and classic. I would suggest it is suitable for any age. Bought this in black for a family member. Added his size info. My only complaint is that I can't get this for myself in the women's coats. I would really like one. It's such a great coat- practical and excellent style. I highly advise that you buy this while it is still in stock. I hope J.Crew continues with the same durability for next year! **As many have mentioned, the product description has left out the biggest selling point- this is a raincoat!

Follow up about the zipper
December 18, 2022I mentioned the zipper in my other review. What I've learned is that you can't hold the zipper pulls with your right hand when starting it - holding the fabric next to it seems to work best. With the left hand, insert the bottom of the zipper with a downward motion, hooking to the left. Then pull up with the right hand and down with the left and with any luck you'll hear a distinct click and the zipper is good to go. This thing should come with an instruction manual but it's an excellent shell jacket.
