The desert boot's story begins in a bazaar in Cairo. South African soldiers, in search of something more suitable for the desert terrain than standard military boots, stumbled upon the cooler, lighter combination of a crepe sole and a suede upper. Adopted by preppies in the 1950s, thanks to its comfort and rugged good looks, the boot moved beyond the desert to become a stylish choice in just about every environment.

Inspired by the crepe-soled boots worn by British officers during World War II, our MacAlister boots are made from the finest Italian suede and only get better with age. We purposely left them unlined for a more casual feel.
