You asked, we listened: We kept hearing that our cashmere was pilling too easily (because we wanted it supersoft, it was knit more loosely), so we decided to make a change... This new style has been knit more tightly, so it should pill less. The tradeoff is that it might not feel as soft at first, but just give it time. P.S. Hand-washing your cashmere is the way to go, just trust us on that.

Italian cashmere classic turtleneck

Italian cashmere classic turtleneck is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect turtle NECK! I am so glad I ordered this turtle! The fit is perfect. It's not too loose, not too tight -- and perfect length to wear with jeans, yet will pair with a pencil skirt, too. I often don't like a turtleneck on me if the neck is too tight, but this one is perfect -- a tiny bit looser & very flattering. I am very, very pleased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect - don't change I fear they will change the perfect staple sweater as JC cannot control themselves from the "refresh/redo/update". Leave it be. If we want a different fit we will size up or down. It's just right and the only sweater I took on a winter vacation. Dressed up or down it just works

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good staple This turtleneck is a good basic, nothing "wow", but the ribbed sleeves and hem make it more refined. This newer tighter knit is an improvement, definitely less pilling and warmer for Boston weather. I agree with other reviewers that it's slightly scratchy but not intolerable. I'm 5'8", and sleeves hit at the wrist bone and hem hits at hip. I ended up buying 3: 2 fitted (size S) for work and 1 size-up for casual wear with skinnies.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from TOO SCRATCHY FOR WORDS I ordered the vintage burgundy because I really wanted this color (still do). I tried it on and couldn't get it off fast enough. I am not usually so sensitive when it comes to cashmere, but I felt as though I was wearing steel wool. I put on one of my Winter Silks under it, and I felt itchy even with this layer under it. I kept itching for an hour after and finally used some Benadryl cream on my neck and chest. My main concern with J.Crew cashmere is pilling, but I never got that far.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed - feels more like wool than cashmere I have a J. Crew cashmere turtleneck from a few years back that is my favorite sweater, it's so soft, and putting it on on a cold winter morning feels heavenly. Unfortunately this sweater is nowhere near as nice as my favorite sweater - this one feels more like wool than cashmere and is very thin. I'd also describe the fit as a bit on the small side. I noticed that last year the top review for this sweater was very critical of the quality of the cashmere, so I was hoping that maybe J.Crew was listening and would improve it this year. Unfortunately, I'm sorry to report that the quality is the same as last year. I was so sad to return this sweater last year and I am so sad to return it again this year. When I am buying cashmere, I want to invest in a gorgeous piece that I will love and have for a few years. Not thin and itchy. I love J. Crew, but my old favorite J. Crew cashmere sweater is proof that J. Crew can do better than this.
