Cotton-wool elbow-patch shirt in solid

Cotton-wool elbow-patch shirt in solid is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elbow Patch Too High It's an overall great shirt, I like the color and quality. But one very thing that annoys me, just like one another review has said, don't know why the elbow is set that high of the sleeve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, soft, resists wrinkling This is a great shirt! I also have a burgundy one that I bought in Chicago. The blue in the blue version is not quite as dark as it appeared online, but I like it anyway, and I've been wearing both colors a lot. Both of these shirts are very comfortable and are woven from a sturdy wool-cotton cloth that has been flanneled for softness. The elbow patches may look a bit dorky, but if you've ever had wool flannel trousers, you'll know that it wears more quickly than worsted, especially at friction points, so the patches are there to make the garment last. This shirt definitely helps keep me warm, but it's not super heavy like an older wool shirt hat I used to have, so I can tuck it into my jeans or layer a sweater or jacket over it with no problems. The wool gives the fabric great resilience and the wrinkles hang out when you rest the shirt between wearings. I hand washed and air dried it and it needed very little pressing afterward.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Favorite Bought this shirt as a gift for my son's birthday. It's his new favorite! He's 6'1" and about 190 lbs. Bought the large and it's a perfect fit. He wanted something warmer without having to put in the layering effort. With the wool/cotton combo it fit the bill beautifully. The patch elbows are a great little extra.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks can be deceiving... I purchased this shirt with the hope that it would be as comfortable as it looks, and I was seriously disappointed. I'm not sure what the material is, but it feels like some sort of sticky plastic synthetic material. I own several J Crew flannel button downs and they are all very comfortable, however this one is almost painful to wear.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking shirt, but misses the mark Materials used are comfortable and warm, and the black color is accurately represented online. Unfortunately, this is the first J. Crew shirt that I've bought that missed the mark for me - the fit is good with the exception being that the sleeves are about a half-inch shorter than other J. Crew shirts in the same size (and I have average-length arms for my size, wearing a small). If they were even a hair shorter, they would be too short. Most importantly, though, the elbow patches themselves are too high on the sleeve. When I'm sitting and put my elbows on the table, they are resting on the very bottom stitching of the patch rather than the center, which annoys me to no end. If I hadn't already removed the tags, I would probably return this item, but as it stands I'm going to have to see if a tailor can move the patches down. In other words, you might want to try this on before buying.
