Abingdon messenger bag

Abingdon messenger bag is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag and better than I had expected Overall, a great quality bag and excellent design. I live in Seoul, so I ordered this bag through the Korean site, which cost me quite a bit more than the US price. However, it was definitely worth it. I have had the bag for several months and it ages well. While the leather straps are slower to open than a zipper or clip, they look much better and have a good feel. Other reviews noted that it is difficult for shorter people to use the straps, but I am about 5'10" and have no problem with the length of the strap (there is a good 6-7" more that I could shorten the strap if needed). The only drawback for me is that the bag is a little bigger than I had anticipated, and messenger bags are not particularly good at carrying heavy weight or large objects, though having a big bag is hardly a complaint.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent but surprised by lack of thought This bag works for a quick commute. It does, howerver, have a few shortfalls. First, the shoulder strap doesn't stay in place for more than a few days. I'm 6'4, and even for me the strap is so long that the bag hangs below my waist. Every few days I find I have to shorten the strap again because it has slipped back down to its full length. A second issue is the pen slots inside the bag. Why are there no bottoms in them? The pen/pencil falls straight through. This seems utterly dumb. Lastly, It'd be nice to have a front pocket on the outside of the bag, accessible without having to undo the straps and lift up the outer flap. Overall, I'm happy enough with the bag to use it for my daily commute, but if I were going to use it any more often, I'd probably keep looking for something else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Yes, but one fatal flaw In aesthetic terms, these are wonderful bags; like a good pair of jeans, as they are broken in they develop visual texture and character. However, I have unfortunately found that they never last more than a year or so, because the leather tab that goes into the buckle falls off once the hole through which the peg attaches it to the bag stretches a little bit. Three days ago this happened to my third Abdington bag, a wonderfully weathered khaki companion. I am sad to see it go, but I have strong reservations about setting myself up for this to happen again. Not sure how to proceed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good It's a nice bag, but strap only adjusts so far—which makes it uncomfortable to carry if you happen to be short. Not the easiest to open and close quickly, but on the plus side, makes it hard for others to sneak a hand in if you plan on traveling. Does fit a 15" laptop and some other items, but strap... it kinda ruined it for me...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly roomy and good for shorter commutes I've bought this bag twice, and have enjoyed it for a few reasons. First, its actually very roomy, but is not bulky. It is shorter than most laptop or messenger bags, but is quite deep, which has allowed me to fit my 14 inch laptop along with 9 printed thirty-page presentations. Despite this though, its not awkward to carry, due to that shorter height, and sits at my hip for my 5'8 frame. Second, it does weather quite nicely, and develops a nice rugged look after a while. The downsides are that it doesn't hold up for long or for intense commutes. I've become a business traveler now, and the outer lining has developed a rather large hole in one of the bottom corners. Furthermore, as another reviewer mentioned, the strap does not stay in place, and I have to always adjust it before setting off to my next destination. I, too, am now looking for another solution, but for an everyday commute to the office, where you're not carrying 25 lbs of stuff, I think this is a good bag.
