Baracuta® G9 Harrington jacket

Rated 5 out of 5 by A deserved reputation There's really nothing to say about this jacket that hasn't been said a thousand times before. It's a classic and extremely versatile piece. I believe Baracuta recently redesigned the G9 to fit a little slimmer, and I love it. I'm 5-9 and 145 lbs. I got the size 36 and it fits like a glove; if you like your fit looser, consider sizing up. Armholes are cut nice and high. I have great mobility in this jacket. The hardest part is deciding what color to get! March 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by High quality collector's jacket I was thrilled to see the G9 offered through J.Crew. There’s not much more I can add to the other glowing reviews other than to reiterate that this is clearly a durable collector’s piece that will stand the test of time with excellent construction and material quality. I wanted to offer another fit perspective for reference. I’m 6’/170lbs, 15.5” neck & 34.5” sleeves – I find that J.Crew’s Slim Secret Wash, Slim Oxfords and Ludlow dress shirts in medium fit perfectly as well as 40R in Ludlow blazers. I tried the Racing Green G9 in size 40 and 42 and found that the 42 was the answer for me. The 40 ‘fit’ but was quite slim; the relatively high armholes were restrictive and the sleeves were about 0.5” too short. The 42 provided ample sleeve length, slightly more length to the body and a comfortable fit that remains trim and modern. Highly recommended! March 7, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing Jacket! Ordered the rust color. Looks even better in person than the photo. It's slightly darker than the photo which I think is much better since it still stands out, while the darker shade allows it to go with more outfits. I'm not sure what everyone is saying about the sizing being too small. I usually wear a size 37R suit jacket (have to get it tailored...) and ordered the 38 Baracuta. It fits great. Baracuta uses European sizing since they're a UK company, so I believe you go one suit size down from the American suit size (36 Baracuta would be 38 American). What's weird is that I called J.Crew to double check this and they said that they already converted the Baracuta sizes to American sizes so I was expecting the jacket to be a little large. It fits perfectly, which leads me to believe that that they did not correct the sizing differential. If someone from J.Crew could address this for future buyers, that would be great! October 28, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Slim fit, w/character, not an "old man's jacket" I ordered the navy, size 40. I'm 5'11, 170. I'm generally between a 38 and 40 [Italian] suit jacket, and wear M shirts even in slimmer styles, waist size 31 or 32, depending upon brand. An off-the-rack Ludlow sport coat is a bit too tight for me in 38, and a bit too loose in 40. I've not tried a 39 as I don't see those locally, but I'm guessing I'd be a 39 based on the other fits. I ordered this jacket in a 40, and its a good fit. I don't think I could wear a 38, and with a heavy sweater, the 40 would be pushing it. It's a fairly lightweight jacket, so I expect to wear it with spring/fall shirts, or possibly a thin merino sweater. I've tried both and it's fine with those. I had read some reviews of the G9 on other websites, and some claim it's an "old man's jacket". I disagree, and attribute that characterization to it's long, storied history. I find it to be stylish, definitely not baggy or vanilla, and the quality looks top notch. I recommend it, but be aware it's a slimmer fit. February 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by True Classic Great detailing, very comfortable, functional as it is rain resistant, and just feels right. A true classic light wind breaker. October 15, 2014
