Just got this coat, and instantly fell in love with it. Really glad that Jcrew finally responds to part of the current "fast fashion" trend of oversized outerwear. The brushed fabric (~30% wool & 30% mohair) feels really nice, although I was expecting a larger proportion of wool. I am 5 ft 10 inch and 135 lbs, and 34/s fits me perfectly in the sleeves and shoulder. The hem of the coat reaches just above my knees and the waist is a bit wider than the XS-sized jackets here, but in a good way, because of the general straight cut, rather than the ladder-shaped fit. The slightly dropped shoulders and wider sleeves and waist truly catch the essence of oversized outerwear and also allows for comfortably layering a chunky sweater or jacket. One biggest GRIPE of mine comes to me when I tried to put my hands into the side pockets, only to find that they are completely concealed!! But I guess I will still keep this beautiful coat, because of the nice fit and material.

Love this topcoat! Very on trendy with the oversized fashions. I bought down one size and love the way the coat fits. It's still oversized but the arm length/ shoulders fit.
The topcoat is navy and grey long haired wool. Looks super expensive (and was, but now on sale). I get compliments every time I wear it.
Note: The jacket is unlined so it's not good for super cold days. However the coat looks very slick with a denim jacket or thin tonal vest layered under it.

I tried the 42R, and since its unconstructed it is a very flexible sizing in the shoulder to fit over just about anything. I normally wear a 41.
However, the waist is pretty billowy compared to J.Crew's other topcoats. Perhaps it's the trend for this type of jacket, but it's not for me. So billowy in fact that I will return it. If I tailor the waist to how I want it (I have a 32-33 waist), the pockets will actually be too far much on the side and will look odd. It's too bad.
The coat is very lightweight, made from a nice blend fabric that has a lot of texture to the touch but soft and pliable and comfortable. But definitely not something that is as warm as their fully wool coats. Wind will go right through the weave. The material has a very vintage feel to it.
I really wish I was able to catch their constructed version of this with the shoulder pads, which was more traditional. It sold out very quickly.
