Rated 4 out of 5 by NBALDORI Quality great - sizing off for me
The Pros: Quality and color are top notch. Thick and sturdy material that wouldn't stain or wrinkle easily. Length of the coat and arm length were on point.
The Con: the shoulders were EXTREMELY narrow for me. I am 5'1, 110-115 lbs, 34 B. I ordered 3 petite sizes (0, 2, and 4). The 2 fit the best in the body - 0 too small, 4 too big. BUT none of the sizes allowed me to raise my arms comfortably. I tried them on with a relatively thinner sweater and I felt like the incredible hulk ready to bust at the seams.
So I returned them and will not be purchasing the regular length b/c I'd have to spend more money hemming.
Jealous for anyone who can find their size!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Tori defective - so disappointed
I waited months for this coat to go on sale and I was so excited to receive it after ordering it couple of wks ago. The quality of the fabric is great but the fit is truly defective. The arms are so tight and the belt is ridiculously long. I am 5 ft and 107 lbs and I always wear 0P in Jcrew coats but there is something wrong with the way this was made.
This is such a popular item that they were making it in such high volume to meet the market demand and the spec they used didn't go through proper quality checks. Its not the factory's fault because they just duplicated what was asked. I have really skinny arm and you can't even lift your arm without feeling pressure and the belt comes all the way down below your knees which looks so buzzard. I can bet the same length is used for the petite as it is for the regular size and shouldn't be that way.
All I know, arms on the model is the way it should be but its not the case . Jcrew please revise the spec on the petite version of this item.

First off, this trench looks really nice on. I bought it in my schoolboy blazer size 4P. The shoulders were perfect, the sleeves were a good length on my petite sized arms, and the overall appearance was spot on.
But, when I went to raise my arms, the sleeves were tight and the left sleeve bit into my bicep (which is strange, because that's not even my dominant arm...). I only had a thin flannel shirt on too. But the armpits and chest area felt fine. I almost feel like the sleeves are trumpet shaped and flare out at the wrists compared to how tight they are around the bicep. Never had this problem with any of my other J.Crew outerwear before. I'm really particular about the shoulders fitting just right on a trench so I don't think sizing up would be an option for me so I'm returning.

I can not raise my arms up and I wear only long thin tee . So what is the point to pay this much money and your arms can not move around freely. I waited for a long time for it and tried on for 1 minute and I know that I have to return this trench. The body fit fine comfortable the quality is great I am in size 2 and 4 and order 6 p the body fit great sleeve length is perfect for 5'2 115lbs . If j crew fix the sleeves so tight can not lift your arms thing I bet nobody will return this trench at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by spartan09 great trench
Overall, I really liked this trench. I ordered 3 sizes because it is not offered in stores (at least in my area). I kept the middle size of the 3 I ordered as it was the best fit. However, despite the size, they were all a bit narrow on the shoulder area. I dont have any problem if my arms are down or stretched out, but I can't comfortably lift my arms. I think that happens with all coats to a degree, but the issue with this trench was more evident.
Other than that, the petite size works great for me (5' 3") and the quality is really good.
