Rated 5 out of 5 by JustMarried The perfect non-traditional wedding dress
When I got engaged a little over a year ago, I knew I didn't want to wear a traditional wedding gown. I tried on a few, just for fun, and it only confirmed this. But then I didn't spend much time actually looking for a dress because I figured I'd stumble upon the perfect white frock during my regular shopping. About a month before my wedding, I had a number I was OK with, but I just knew it wasn't the one. I figured I'd check J. Crew one last time, and there was the Collection Scalloped Lace Dress! Without being a traditional gown, it still feels like a wedding dress. It's beautiful, elegant, fits like a glove. The lace detailing is absolutely gorgeous. I was so proud to wear this dress on my wedding day.

Perfect for a simple, elegant wedding. Definitely call JCrew wedding specialist for exact dimensions on the dress before determining size. They are very helpful!

I purchased this dress to wear to my 30th high school reunion this summer. It is absolutely stunning. I love the beautiful lace and the fact that the dress is not stark white but slightly off white without being cream in color. I think the fit is pretty true to size. I usually wear a size 0 in J Crew dresses and this one fit perfectly. I did contact customer service to get the exact garment measurements before I placed my online order. For reference I measure 33-26-36 with narrow shoulders and wear an A cup.

The dress fits nicely and quality overall is really good. The lace is very pretty. The one big detractor is the underfabric tends to bunch up in different places under the lace. It really should lay smooth to look its best - there probably should have been another thin layer of fabric between the lace that was sewn in to be held in place, rather than just layered on top. I have not yet worn it for the big event but it's a concern enough for me to consider purchasing a different dress. But it's so pretty, I'm hoping to make it work.
Also, I have relatively short legs. For me, petites are a touch too short and regular can be just a touch too long. At first I tried on the dress barefoot and was really disappointed. The proportions were all wrong, making me look short and stumpy. But the moment I put on a pair of taller heels, the look was totally transformed and I loved it.
