Orders and Returns

How long will it take for my dress to arrive?
Can I get it overnight?

Our regular shipping schedule applies to our wedding collection too. Standard shipping takes 3 to 6 business days, but we suggest ordering at least 8 to 12 weeks in advance to allow time for alterations. And we can get your dress to you the following day, as long as we have it in stock. Call us by noon ET or place your order online by 11am ET Monday through Thursday to guarantee overnight shipping.

What’s the return policy?

Our regular return policy applies to our wedding collection too. Please click here for details.

How will my dress arrive?

We ship our limited-edition and most delicate pieces in beautiful keepsake boxes lined with acid-free paper, along with long, white garment bags and satin hangers so you can carry them safely with you. The rest of our dresses, including our bridesmaid styles, arrive carefully folded over hangers and ready to wear. Any other special shipping details are noted in our item descriptions.

The dress I want is out of stock. What can I do?

If you need the dress right away, our wedding specialists will try to find it for you. We'll put your name on a waiting list that gets updated several times a day. Or, if you have a little more time, you can call us to see if a new shipment is expected soon.

What’s the best way for my bridesmaids to order their dresses?

Just call our wedding specialists and pass along your party details. They'll keep track of the orders for you (whether you’re paying together or separately) and follow up with your bridesmaids to make sure everyone has what they need.

Is there anywhere I can go to try on J.Crew wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses before I place my order?

We offer a preview of select samples at the following locations: Georgetown in Washington, DC; North Michigan Avenue in Chicago; Fifth Avenue in New York. Just call the store nearest you for an appointment.

Sizing and Fit

How do I know which size is right for me? Do you offer additional women’s sizes?

All our styles run true to size. Most of our wedding collection is available in regular sizes 00 to 16 and petite sizes up to 12. Select styles come in sizes 18 and 20, and a few are designed with bodices and hemlines that will accommodate a range of heights.

We advise checking your measurements using our online size chart before you order. If you have questions about the fit of a particular dress or would like a recommendation for your figure, our wedding specialists will be happy to help.

Can J.Crew dresses be tailored?

While we don’t provide alterations, all our dresses can be professionally tailored to fit you perfectly. They come with a standard seam allowance of 1/2" that can be let out slightly. Our built-in corsets have a couture construction that cannot be let out, but a professional tailor will be able to take them in.

What if my bridesmaids wear different sizes and only some are in stock?

Just call our wedding specialists and let us know what your party needs. We'll put their names on a wait list that gets updated several times a day. Unfortunately, there’s no guarantee that the sizes you need will become available again—but if they do, we’ll notify you right away.

Will any of your dresses fit a pregnant bride or bridesmaid?

A few of our styles will fit during the first few months of pregnancy. Call our wedding specialists for recommendations—they can tell you which styles have worked for other customers.

What kind of intimate apparel should I wear with my dress?

Most of our dresses can be worn with conventional or strapless bras. If the dress covers your shoulders, we’ve added small lingerie tabs to keep bra straps tucked out of sight. The exceptions are our strapless wedding gowns, which have beautifully constructed built-in corsets for support.

Color, Fabric and Care

Do you have fabric swatches available?

Call our wedding specialists to request color and fabric swatches, we’re happy to send them if they’re available. Each piece is 3 1/2" long and 2" wide.

How do I care for my dress?

Every style comes with a special card printed with easy-to-follow care instructions. As a general rule, all the dresses in our wedding collection are dry clean only.

Is there a way to find out what colors will be available in the coming seasons?

Call our wedding specialists for information about future seasons.

Fall/Holiday 2015

silk chiffon

Very light, with a subtle crinkle texture, it drapes beautifully and takes dyes and prints particularly well.

classic faille

Lightweight, with a subtle sheen and a refined cross-rib texture (similar to that of a grosgrain ribbon), this fabric is very photogenic.

leavers lace

We source this lace—which features a vintage-inspired scroll design outlined in fine cord—from a sixth-generation family-owned mill.

Drapey Matte Crepe

With just the right amount of weight, a slinky (but structured) drape and a smooth finish for shine-free photos.
